Geek culture has evolved enormously in recent years. If we go back to the days of secondary education, no one in their right mind would go proclaiming to the four winds that they were a geek. Back then, being a ‘geek’ was a derogatory term, and many of us that like Tech Stuff have suffered from it for a long time. And the term ‘geek’ or ‘geek’ is tremendously broad. But all people under this denomination have one quality in common: passion. A passion for a particular subject, be it computers, technology in general, reading manga or watching anime, or films that were not extremely popular. When I was in high school, going to see Star Wars on opening day at the cinema was considered to be a freak.
Fortunately, nowadays it’s not frowned upon as such. What’s more, people proclaim it loud and proud. It’s not for nothing that films like the latest Avengers: Endgame are breaking all kinds of records at the box office. We are no longer just four weirdos who get together in high school to talk about Star Wars, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, One Piece, or whatever Tech Stuff it is you’re passionate about. There are a lot of us, we are legion.
This section of our website is dedicated to all of them, where we will talk about all kinds of technology, among other things. Since 2012 we have been collaborating with the Malaga magazine TODO, to disseminate the most cutting-edge technological issues to the general public. From technology education topics, such as good practices when surfing the net, to predictions about the future of storage. Everything has a place in the geek section of Un Geek en Múnich, I hope you like it and that you find it useful.
